On Saturday, 14th December 2024, Touch of Love hosted its Christmas Lunch, a heart-warming celebration that brought together supporters, volunteers, guests from various walks of life, and friends to commemorate another successful year of community work. The event provided an opportunity to reflect on challenges overcome, reaffirm a commitment to fostering social connections, create safe spaces for young people to showcase their talents, and support seamless cultural integration for those navigating dual identities.
The day began with an engaging welcome speech by Councillor Michael Suznir of Torry, who reflected on the incredible impact Touch of Love has made on young and new Scots. His words set the tone for an unforgettable event. Guests were then treated to a variety of captivating performances by talented young people, featuring energetic dances, melodious Christmas carols, rhythmic drumming, and heartfelt violin pieces. These vibrant performances not only warmed the room but also showcased the remarkable potential of the youth supported by Touch of Love.
A highlight of the event was a touching video presentation by Jane Akadiri, founder of Touch of Love. The video chronicled the charity's journey, including initiatives such as the Young Achievers Club, the Food Bank, holistic support for ethnic minority families, and the recently launched Mum and Baby & Toddler Group. The presentation included heartfelt testimonials from service users, dedicated staff, volunteers, trustees, and ambassadors. Jane’s beautifully crafted speech further captivated the audience, leaving a profound sense of inspiration.
The celebration also provided an opportunity to recognize and honour exceptional individuals who have significantly contributed to the charity’s mission. Awards were presented to those who went above and beyond in their dedication, reflecting the spirit of community and collective effort. These awards celebrated their commitment, and invaluable contributions of volunteers and key supporters who have made a lasting impact on the organization’s activities.
Throughout the evening, attendees enjoyed moments of connection and reflection as supporters, funders, and young participants mingled and shared their experiences.
Touch of Love is immensely grateful to everyone who made the evening a success - from our dedicated volunteers to every individual who contributed to this memorable event and took the time to join us for our Christmas lunch. We look forward to continuing the great work of empowering young people, strengthening community connections, and fostering cultural integration in the years ahead. With heartfelt wishes for a Merry Christmas, we eagerly embrace 2025 with optimism, ready to advance our mission of creating positive change.
