On Saturday, November 2nd, 2024, Touch of Love Outreach, in collaboration with the Let's Be Heard team from the Scottish COVID-19 Inquiry, hosted a pivotal session with 60 members of Aberdeen's ethnic minority community. This gathering aimed to delve into the unique challenges and experiences these individuals faced during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Understanding Diverse Impacts

The pandemic's effects varied widely, influenced by factors such as ethnicity, socioeconomic status, and geographic location. Ethnic minority communities often encountered distinct obstacles, including language barriers, limited access to healthcare, and economic hardships. This session provided a platform for participants to share their personal narratives, ensuring that their voices contribute to a comprehensive understanding of the pandemic's impact in Scotland.

Supportive Environment

To facilitate meaningful participation, Touch of Love Outreach arranged childminding services, allowing attendees to engage fully without childcare concerns. Each participant received a £50 preloaded Aberdeen gift card, providing access to essentials at over 200 local shops across Aberdeen. Additionally, refreshments were provided, creating a welcoming atmosphere for open dialogue. All attendees also enjoyed delicious refreshments, creating a welcoming and supportive environment for open dialogue.

Gratitude and Future Commitment

We extend our heartfelt thanks to the Let's Be Heard team for their dedication to amplifying the voices of Aberdeen's ethnic minority communities. Their commitment to inclusivity ensures that diverse experiences inform the Scottish COVID-19 Inquiry's findings.
