"A world where young New Scots flourish, proudly embracing their dual cultural identities and actively enriching a vibrant, inclusive society that values diversity, mutual respect, and the contribution of all cultures to the shared fabric of Scotland."
"To empower Minority Ethnic Youth and New Scots through a dynamic and supportive platform that offers a wide range of programs celebrating cultural heritage, promoting personal development, and enhancing wellbeing. By celebrating heritage, fostering cultural appreciation, enhancing wellbeing, and building social skills, we enable young individuals to become active, responsible contributors to their communities and to the vibrant cultural mosaic of Scotland."
"To empower Minority Ethnic Youth and New Scots to embrace and express their dual cultural identities, fostering a seamless integration into Scottish society. Through creative, physical, and communal activities, we aim to bridge cultural gaps, enhance personal development, and encourage active community participation. Our goal is to create a nurturing space where young people can build positive relationships, develop essential life skills, and feel a strong sense of belonging and achievement in a multicultural world.
The Touch of Love Young Achievers Club was founded in July 2022, specifically
tailored to address the unique challenges faced by Aberdeen's Ethnic Minority
young persons. This initiative was born out of a recognized need to assist these individuals in navigating the complexities of integration and managing their dual identity within a new cultural environment. From the outset, the club has been committed to providing a supportive platform where these young people could find a sense of belonging, express themselves freely, and embrace both aspects of their identity.
Since its inception, Touch of Love Young Achievers has witnessed significant
growth and evolution. Originally catering to a broad age range, the club has
now expanded to include four distinct groups, segmented by age brackets to
better meet the developmental and social needs of its participants. These
groups are tailored for children and teenagers aged 5 - 8, 8 - 11, 12 - 15, and 16 - 25, allowing for a more focused approach to empowerment, engagement, and
education.
This expansion into age - specific groups has enabled Touch of Love Young Achievers to offer more targeted programs, including arts and crafts, digital
literacy, employability skills, and cultural exchange meetups. Each group is
designed to foster an environment that not only addresses the challenges
associated with cultural integration and identity but also promotes personal
growth, mental well - being, and community involvement.
By adapting its services to cater to these specific age groups, Touch of Love
Young Achievers has solidified its role as a pivotal resource for minority ethnic youth in Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire. It continues to be a beacon of support, creativity, and empowerment for young individuals striving to navigate their dual identities, overcome social barriers, and contribute positively to their communities.
